The choir was founded in 1986, and is located in Nittedal, one of Oslo’s neighbouring municipalities. Our conductor Anne-Britt Henriksen is the founder of the choir. She has a degree in music from the University of Oslo , with the piano as her main instrument. She has studied choir conducting under the well-known Norwegian composer and conductor Knut Nystedt. The choir takes pride in its conductor, and Nittedal municipality has given her an award for cultural activities. This award has also been granted to the choir.
Since its origin, the choir has been in continuous development.
While working hard to expand and master our musical repertory, we always
try to keep our "enjoyment and pleasure with singing" in focus.
For this reason the choir consider it important to work with varied musical styles,
and have a wide repertory spanning madrigals, sacred music, classical music,
folk songs, pop, rock, blues and contemporary music. The choir seeks out and
thrives on new musical challenges, and work closely with song pedagogues.
This is both to improve the choir as a whole, and to give each individual singer the
opportunity to develop herself.
At some of our concerts the choir perform choreographed songs. In addition to this amusing and entertaining the audience, it also helps the singers develop greater openness and courage under performances - this in turn improve the choirs musical quality.
